Our Six-Phase Proven Process
At LBL, we carefully tailor our proven framework, the Strategic Management Performance System to each consulting engagement. This ensures that leaders stay engaged and collaborate effectively at the appropriate strategic level throughout the process. We are happy to customize your engagement around any, or all, of the following phases:

Phase 1: System Initiation
Engage leadership to understand the current situation from several perspectives. Assist leaders with developing and communicating a recommended approach for meeting the strategic planning and management needs of the organization.

Phase 2: Environmental Assessment
Gain strategic foresight from diverse stakeholders by carefully assessing the external and internal environments faced by the organization, then prioritizing where to focus and why.

Phase 3: Strategy Formulation
Set a longer-term strategic direction and formulate a high-level strategy for success. Define the customer, owner, partner, and employee value propositions.

Phase 4: Strategic Planning
Write the strategic plan to achieve the strategic direction. Identify key drivers of success and translate them into a balanced set of strategic objectives. Develop a strategic operating plan, including KPIs and/or OKRs. Decide what legacy items to sunset. Prioritize initiatives to move the strategy into action.

Phase 5: Strategy Execution
Transform the operating model to align with the new strategy. Cascade the strategy and strategic objectives down into and across the organization. Align key stakeholders behind the strategy. Implement the strategic operating plan.

Measure performance, learn from experience, revisit assumptions, intensify stakeholder engagement, adapt, and govern strategy.
